Positioning For IPC & Counsel Portfolios

Corporate • Sep 22, 2022

In this three-minute video, Paul Punzo, Vice President Portfolio Strategy, IPC Portfolio Services, discusses recent portfolio adjustments the PM Team has made and our positioning going forward.

Here are a few highlights:

  • Responding to current macro themes, the Team is looking to reduce some of the downside risk associated with equities while in fixed income, they believe that future rate hikes are largely already factored in.

  • Overall positioning is a marginal overweight to fixed income and underweight for equities.

  • In terms of regional allocations, they have pared back its exposure to U.S. equities as they believe the U.S. Federal Reserve is not supporting the markets and are holding a more neutral positioning for Canada and international markets.

  • For fixed income, they are currently underweight global bonds, neutral on core Canadian fixed income, and overweight on high yield bonds.
